Who is eligible for ACC treatments?
Everyone in New Zealand. No visa Restrictions. If you suffer a physical injury caused by an accident. This could be a serious accident, or something as minor as lifting heavy weights or getting injured while working out at the gym-New Zealand operates a 'No-fault" accident compensation shame.
What do you need to start the treatments?
1. If you have an ACC claim number, you can start the treatments right away.
2. If you don't have an ACC number but had an injury recently. You first need to see a health provider who is authorised under ACC to make a diagnosis and lodge an ACC claim (called an ACC45 form).
Authorised health providers include a doctor, nurse, osteopath, physiotherapist, podiatrist or chiropractor.
Can I receive ACC treatments from chiropractor/physiotherapist/Acupuncturist
Yes, you can. Each ACC number can be applied with different cateogories of practitioners and each of them are calculated individually. Please note: ACC just fund 1 treatment per day, so please make sure the treatments are scheduled on different days.
How many treatments can I have for each ACC Claim number?
Normally, you can get up to 12 treatments, but maybe more or less as case by case, depending on ACC's approval and the type of treatment you are receiving.
Is there a time limit requirement for injury treatment?
Yes, Our current treatment services are available for injuries that occurred within the last 12 months.
